A LITTLE HELP, BEAUTIFULLY SIMPLE

Customer care.

Measurements, materials and the details that help you choose.

Sizing & fit

How do I choose between long and short?

The long kimono measures 123 cm from shoulder to hem. The short kimono measures 90 cm. Both have a straight, relaxed silhouette and a matching belt.

To check the length, measure 123 cm or 90 cm down from the top of your shoulder to see where the hem will fall.

What does one size mean?

One size with a loose, relaxed fit. Wear the kimono open, or wrap it around you and tie the matching belt to define your waist.

The body width is 70 cm, measured from one side of the kimono to the other while it is lying flat. It is not a recommended body measurement.

For an easy fit check, lay a robe you already wear comfortably flat and measure it from side to side. Compare that measurement with our 70 cm width. On a smaller frame, the kimono will look more oversized; on a fuller frame, it will sit closer to the body.

Can I see the measurements in inches?

Yes. Open the size guide and switch between centimetres and inches. You can compare the long and short versions in the same guide. Measurements are taken on the kimono laid flat.

Fabric & Care

What are the kimonos made from?

Natural cotton velvet

Outer: 100% cotton velvet Lining: 100% cotton

Our velvet is made from natural cotton fibres. Its soft, dense pile gives the fabric a rich texture and a subtle sheen that changes with the light. The cotton lining feels soft against the skin and makes the kimono comfortable to wear over your favourite layers.

Are the kimonos lined?

Yes. The lining is 100% cotton and feels soft against the skin. Lining colours and prints may differ between designs.

Will the colour look exactly like the photograph?

Velvet catches and reflects light, so its appearance changes with the direction of the pile and the lighting. Screen settings can also affect colour. Look through both the campaign photographs and the product gallery to get a fuller impression.

How should I care for my kimono?

We have crafted this piece with care. To keep its velvet soft and beautiful, please follow these simple instructions:

• Dry cleaning is recommended for best results. • If washing by hand, use cold water and a mild detergent. • Do not wring, twist or rub the fabric. • Lay flat to dry, away from direct sunlight. • Gently steam to remove creases, keeping the steamer slightly away from the fabric. Never iron the velvet directly. • Do not bleach or tumble dry.

Shipping & delivery

Where do you deliver?

Worldwide. If your destination is not listed at checkout, contact us for a shipping quote before payment.

How much is shipping?

We ship worldwide. These are our current standard shipping rates:

Netherlands — €9.95 EU — €12.95 United Kingdom — €15.95 United States — €29.95 Middle East — €32.95 Australia — €33.95 Other destinations — Quote before payment

Shipping includes packaging and postage. For a destination not listed, ask us for a quote before paying. We confirm the full delivery charge first.

Where is my order shipped from?

Your kimono is currently shipped from Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

When will my order arrive?

In-stock orders are normally prepared within 2–3 working days. Estimated transit after dispatch: Netherlands 1–3 working days; EU 3–7; UK 5–10; US and Middle East 7–15; Australia 10–20. Other destinations are quoted individually.

Weekends, public holidays and customs can add time. Pre-order dates are stated separately.

Can I change my address or cancel an order?

Before dispatch, we can change your delivery address or cancel your order. Once it has shipped, we cannot change the parcel.

Contact us with your order number as soon as possible. If it has already shipped, any legal cancellation and return rights still apply.

Will I pay customs duties or import taxes?

For delivery outside the EU, local import taxes, duties or carrier fees may apply. You pay these unless checkout clearly says they are included. They are separate from our shipping charge.

Orders sent within the EU normally have no import customs charges. Special territories may have different rules.

How can I track my order?

For a tracked delivery, we send the tracking details after dispatch. If you have not received them, check your spam folder or contact us with your order number.

What if my parcel is late, missing or damaged?

Contact us. We will investigate with the carrier and help resolve it. If tracking says “delivered”, first check with your household or reception and any safe place you authorised.

We remain responsible until you or your chosen recipient receives the parcel, apart from any legal exception for a carrier you independently appoint. Your legal rights to a replacement, cancellation or refund are not removed by a carrier investigation.

What if I miss the delivery or enter the wrong address?

The carrier may hold the parcel for collection or return it to us. Contact us so we can arrange the next step. Redelivery may require a new shipping payment.

We will explain any actual, legally recoverable cost first. We do not automatically keep the full purchase price. Refusing a parcel is not a substitute for clearly notifying us that you want to cancel.

Returns & refunds

Can I return or exchange my kimono?

We do not offer a voluntary exchange into another colour if we sent the kimono you ordered.

For eligible online purchases in the EU and UK, you can still cancel within 14 days after delivery, even if the correct colour arrived. Send the item back within a further 14 days after telling us.

For other destinations, correctly supplied, non-faulty items are not covered by an extra change-of-mind policy. Any mandatory local rights still apply. Faulty, damaged or incorrect items are handled separately below.

Where do I send a return?

Europe, including the UK Sarphatipark 8hs 1072 PA Amsterdam Netherlands

All other destinations 5A Balmoral Road #03-03 Treasure on Balmoral Singapore 259822

Please use the parcel return address for the delivery region of your order.

How do I arrange a return?

Tell us which order and items you want to return. For a legal change-of-mind cancellation, no reason or prior approval is needed.

Pack the kimono securely with its matching belt and other supplied parts. Add your order reference, send it to the correct regional address and keep proof of posting. Tracked shipping is recommended.

Send your clear cancellation notice to daretobe@velvetqueen.nl, including your order reference.

Can I try the kimono on?

Yes, carefully, as you would in a shop. Please do not wear it out, wash it, alter it or leave perfume, makeup or other marks while deciding.

Keep tags and packaging if possible. Opening the packaging does not remove a legal return right. A loss in value caused by handling beyond a normal fitting may be deducted where the law allows; there is no fixed restocking fee.

Who pays return shipping?

For a change-of-mind return, you pay the direct return-postage and packaging cost. The carrier can quote the price for your location.

If we sent an incorrect or faulty item, we cover the necessary reasonable return cost. Contact us first so we can arrange a suitable method.

What if I received the wrong colour or a faulty kimono?

We will put it right at no cost to you. Contact us with your order number and a short description. Photos of the item and packaging help, if available.

Depending on the problem and your legal rights, we arrange a repair, replacement, price reduction or refund. Reporting the issue promptly helps us resolve it; it does not create a short cut-off for a valid legal claim.

Can I return a sale or pre-order item?

A sale price or pre-order does not, by itself, remove your legal return rights. A genuinely personalised kimono may be excluded from change-of-mind returns if this was explained before purchase. Choosing a standard colour is not the same as personalisation.

When and how will I receive my refund?

We refund the original payment method, without a refund fee.

For an EU legal cancellation, the refund is due within 14 days after you tell us. We may wait until the return arrives or you provide proof of sending it, whichever is earlier, unless we have offered to collect it. Other mandatory local deadlines also apply.

Your bank may take extra time to display the refund after we issue it.

Is the original shipping charge refunded?

For a legal cancellation of the whole order, we also refund our standard outward shipping charge. An upgrade above the cheapest standard service need not be refunded. For partial returns, we adjust shipping where the law requires.

Import charges paid to customs or a carrier are handled by those organisations. We cannot refund money we did not collect.
